Our Gold Standard
Sustainability isn’t a claim in Louisiana — it’s a requirement. Our industry operates within a unique conservation model where science, regulation, and tradition work hand-in-hand to protect both alligators and their habitats. Guided by state, federal, and international oversight, farmers follow strict standards designed to support thriving wild populations and ensure ethical care at every stage.

Why the “Marsh to Market” Concept Succeeds
-
The survival rates of wild alligator hatchlings to adulthood is estimated to be under 3%, and as low as 1%.
-
Farmers return healthy 1-year-old, 3-5 ft/1.0-1.5 m alligators, the equivalent size of a 7-year-old wild alligator. Due to their size, farm released alligator alligators are no longer prey animals.
-
An alligator reaches sexual maturity at approximately 6 ft/1.83 m in length, meaning that released alligators are closer to reproductive size.

Additionally, farmers obtain additional certifications through SRCP & the International Crocodile Farmers Association (ICFA). Third-party auditing institutions oversee audits and compliance to our world-class standards.
